Passiflora - A host for the gulf fritillary butterfly, Passionflower is a climbing perennial vine that blooms unique looking flowers from midsummer to early fall. There are hundreds of species separated into three main types, purple, yellow, and granadilla (red). Vines can grow up to 30 feet long and most varieties produce an edible fruit after flowering called a maypop. All of the passionflower aerial parts including stems, flower, leaves, and fruits are used medicinally.
