Wild Geranium

Geranium maculatum - This native woodland perennial, Wild Geranium, adds some beautiful color to a woodland garden and attracts pollinators such as native bees, syrphid flies, bumblebees and honeybees. It makes an excellent companion for other woodland natives as well. Woodland gardens are often overlooked but can be a beautiful way to add a sense of wonder to a bare backyard.

Space 18 inches apart.

Tip: Wild Geranium forms beautiful pollinator patches and the seeds also attract Morning Doves and Bobwhite Quail. Fill in woodland areas with a large grouping of this or let it naturally take over. Good companions include variegated solomon’s seal, ferns, celandine poppy, shooting star, trillium, columbine and woodland phlox.
