Turmeric
Curcuma longa - Coming from the same plant family as Ginger, Turmeric, is a tropical plant known for its rhizomes that are packed full of nutrients and used in cooking, spices, and medicinal products. While typically grown for these benefits, the canna-like flowers also make it a beautiful addition to the garden in the hot and humid summer.
Plant 6-8 inches apart.
Tip: You can freeze sections of the roots to use in cooking or making fresh juices later on. Dry portions in the dehydrator to use for teas. Or dry and grind to use turmeric powder in cooking. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory and helps support joint health.
