Thyme, French
Thymus vulgaris - A delicate yet flavorful variety, French Thyme—also known as Summer Thyme—has finer stems and a milder, sweeter taste than traditional English Thyme. Its tender leaves make it a favorite for French cuisine, adding depth to soups, sauces, and roasted dishes. In summer, it produces tiny lavender-pink flowers that attract pollinators, making it both a culinary staple and a garden favorite. Thriving in warm, dry conditions, this hardy perennial is a must-have for herb gardens and kitchen gardens alike.
Space plants about 8-12 inches apart.
Tip: Besides adding to herb gardens, French Thyme makes a fragrant and ornamental ground cover, releasing its subtle aroma when brushed against.
