Prunella vulgaris - Selfheal is a low growing, creeping perennial herb that’s a member of the mint family. Hence the way it “creeps” as it grows. It prefers short turf of grasslands, roadside edges or lawns. It blooms beautiful violet flowers in the summer. Prunella vulgaris is also known as “heal-all” due to its traditional use in healing wounds, throat infections, and several other ailments. All parts of the herb are edible, and you can add its leaves to salads or other recipes. It’s also one of the most studied medicinal plants in the world.

Tip:  It makes a wonderful addition to a wildflower lawn as pollinators love it and it fills in areas quickly. Selfheal also makes for a nice border at the edge of a woodline.
