Poppy, California
Eschscholzia californica - A cheerful, drought-tolerant wildflower, California Poppy bursts into brilliant shades of orange, yellow, and red from spring through fall. Its delicate, fern-like foliage and silky, cup-shaped blooms make it a stunning addition to pollinator gardens and natural landscapes. Traditionally used in herbal medicine for its calming properties, this easy-to-grow perennial (often grown as an annual) thrives in poor soils and requires little maintenance.
Space plants about 6-12 inches apart.
Tip: Besides adding to wildflower meadows, California Poppy self-seeds readily, making it perfect for naturalizing garden beds and dry, sunny slopes.
