Passionflower
Passiflora spp. - A host for the gulf fritillary butterfly, Passionflower is a climbing perennial vine that blooms unique looking flowers from midsummer to early fall. There are hundreds of species separated into three main types, purple, yellow, and granadilla (red). Vines can grow up to 30 feet long and most varieties produce an edible fruit after flowering called a maypop. All of the passionflower aerial parts including stems, flower, leaves, and fruits are used medicinally.

Tip: Passionflower is used for its ability to soothe anxiety, ease pain and calm the nervous system. It’s most often used in herbal teas and can be infused for around 20 minutes. You can sip it warm or store it in the fridge to serve chilled. It blends well with other calming herbs such as chamomile or lemon balm.
