Mullein, Common

Verbascum thapsus - Mullein is a top herb for helping to support inflammatory problems such as infections, diarrhea or lung related issues. It typically grows wild in pastures and meadows that have often been neglected. In the first year of life it produces a leaf rosette, for the plant to come back and flower in the second year it must be exposed to the cold over the winter.

Greek Mullein is preferred for flower production while Common Mullein is preferred for leaf production. We suggest picking one variety and sticking with it so they don’t hybridize.

Space plants 24 inches apart.

Tip: Steep the dried leaves/flowers in boiling water for about 10-15 minutes to pull the nutrients out. Drinking tea helps to relieve issues like sore throat, cough, colds, hoarseness and bronchitis. Some even use it to ease digestive complaints like diarrhea and joint pain.
