Mountain Mint, Clustered
Pycnanthemum muticum - The genus name derives from the Greek for "dense" and "flower" and describes the crowded flower clusters. Mountain Mint has many species that are closely related and difficult to distinguish from one another. Clustered Mountain Mint has leaves that are more ovate than others of the Pycnanthemum genus, but they possess the same minty aroma. From mid to late summer the foliage is adorned by clusters of small pinkish white flowers that will attract a multitude of pollinators!
Tip: This is a good garden plant for borders, native plant gardens, pollinator conservation plantings, and wildflower meadows with damn soil. Mountain Mint is traditionally used in teas to help relieve headaches. Allow the hot water to steep the leaves for 5-10 minutes for a mint-like aromatic tea.
