Mint, Spearmint
Mentha spicata - Growing spearmint is not much different than growing peppermint. Spearmint often has a more delicate flavor than peppermint, typically described as more sweet, while peppermint is much stronger because of the higher menthol content. Being in the mint family, spearmint spreads vigorously so we suggest planting in its own container. Its often found as a flavoring in toothpaste and mouthwash. Spearmint is high in antioxidants and can help with digestion and aid women with hormonal imbalances.
Tip: Mint loves to spread so plant it in its own container that it can take over and be happy in. We have this mint variety in containers at the entrance to the garden to provide a fragrant aroma, plus they are deer resistant.
