Flax
Linum usitatissimum - An annual herb, Flax looks whimsical when flowering and a beautiful addition to a cottage herb garden. It can stand up to 3 feet tall and produce a delicate 5-petal flower with an earthy fragrance. Flax is the same plant used to make linen with the fibers of the plant.
There are a few varieties of flax including golden flax, red flax, spanish blue flax and common flax. We carry the common flax variety.
Tip: The tall delicate blooms of the flower heads add a beautiful touch to the garden and if you plant multiple, you can harvest the seeds when the blooms dry up. If you have chickens this is also a great plant to harvest the seed heads and give to chickens.
