Asclepias tuberosa - A species of Milkweed native to eastern and southwestern North America, Butterfly Weed is also known as Pleurisy Root or Orange Milkweed. With its low mounding profile and bright, long-lasting orange flowers, this is one of the most popular milkweed plants. It’s an important host plant for Monarch and Queen butterflies. The root can also be used medicinally to help with lung congestion or menstrual cramping.

Tip:  Pair it with other plants like native, ornamental grasses and wildflowers, such as asters and purple coneflowers, to create a butterfly habitat. In a perennial border, pair it with torch lilies or with cooler blues and purples, such as speedwell plants.
