Aster, New England

Symphyotrichum novae-angliae - A deer resistant native perennial, New England Aster is an important source of nectar for late-season pollinators. Monarch butterflies love Aster and use it as fuel to stock up for their fall migration to Mexico. It can grow up to 6 feet tall or can be cut back to encourage a bushier growth.

Space about 18” apart.

Tip:  Any aster plant looks lovely nestled among low-growing ferns. Rudbeckia (black-eyed Susan) also makes an impressive show alongside asters.
