Aloe

Aloe barbadensis miller – Aloe is a succulent perennial known for its thick, fleshy leaves filled with cooling gel. This drought-tolerant plant stores water in its leaves, making it an easy, low-maintenance addition to patios, sunny windowsills, and well-drained garden beds. Aloe has been used for centuries to soothe minor burns, sunburns, and skin irritations thanks to its naturally hydrating and calming properties. Rich in antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds, it remains one of the most widely trusted medicinal plants in the world. When mature, it can even send up tall flower spikes that attract pollinators. Beautiful, practical, and resilient — Aloe is a must-have in any medicinal herb collection.

Tip: Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings — Aloe prefers a little neglect over too much love. When harvesting, use the outer mature leaves first and avoid the yellow latex layer just beneath the skin.
